Decisions….decisions

Today (28th of July) I went to Bargemon and had some lovely dinner. The house was free so it wasnt cleaned (Friends in Perth  own it and unfortunately soot from the fireplace was over everything!). We went to a place which Dad called the Cat Kingdom (the back alleyways of Bargemon were full of cats!)

Today (29th of July) I had a lazy day at home.

Today (30th of July) I went on a big drive in the mountains. When we had lunch Mum, Dad and I decided to go to Mount Beauty for a year. Below the lunch spot there was a lovely river in a canyon.

The river was packed:

The view from our table at the “Grand Canyon” Restaurant:

The waiter who brought back my uneaten lunch and told me I had to eat it before I could have desert! He then bought it back again all wrapped up as a present!

Today (31st of July) I went on a big drive to Carcosonne. They have an amazing castle there right near where we were staying!

We have been at a house in Barjols for two weeks (Sat 14th to 28th of July 2012)….with Chris and Cathy, Amy and Ella….

The house is two story and has an amazing pool except you can hurt your tummy on the limestone on the outside of the pool.

The fantastic pool! That’s me!!

Giving one of the “locals” a hand

With our new purchases from one of the local markets (I am covering up my face because I scraped it diving too deep into the pool)

One of the local swimming holes. The water was freezing coooollldddd.

Another market…..the cat nearly pounced on me when I went past. I love nougat!

Another great swimming spot at the local river  – but the rocks hurt your feet if you’re not careful – Mum fell over!

Fun in the pool with Chris

The three of us had a great time together……and I will miss Amy and Ella now that we are leaving and they are going home to Switzerland.

New scars

Today (10th July 2012) I went to a new place in the mountains – Grindelwald. I went on a train and had some lovely lunch when we got off. When I was going down into the park (amazing playground where we were staying), I didn’t even get into the park, I fell over and I really badly hurt myself on both knees.

Today (11th of July 2012) I got my knee cleaned. I went up a really steep hill on a train. When we got up there I saw some really amazing plants and I took a lot of photos!

I think these ones look like Truffala trees!

After that I went to a waterfall in a cave (Trimmelbach falls). I got wet!!! It was amazing.

Today (12th of July 2012) we went up to the Jung Frau. I walked on a glacier for a very long time (about an hour each way). It was very cold and windy and it was hard to breathe because it was so high up (3650m). Afterwards I bought a Swiss Army knife!

Today (13th July 2012) I went to our next place – Chamonioux. On the way I went inside a glacier. When we arrived at our hotel Dad and I played pool. I watched the Simpsons in French!

Old friends….

Today (Saturday 7th of July) we went to my friends Amy and Ella’s house. I have not seen them for two years. We went to an amazing park just near their apartment and I learnt a new trick.

Today (Sunday 8th of July) I went to the Tour de France and got lollies. I also got on TV!!!! It was amazing.

The pre race entertainment:

The main event – the peloton

Aussie Aussie Aussie!

And just to prove I was on TV!

Today (Monday 9th of July) is my last day with Amy and Ella at their house. We went to the park again. Ella and me went in the pool at the park. But I hurt my right side with rope burn by the new trick.

Grease Lightning

Today (3rd July) we left Italy by train and arrived in Zermatt in Switzerland. When we got there I was hungry so we had to get a snack!

The view from our balcony……

A beautiful mountain……

Today (4th July) we went on a big walk to Hornlihautte (Hut on the Matterhorn). It was very steep. When we finally got there we had hot soup for lunch. I walked on snow. It started to sleet on the way back. There was thunder and lightning (Mum was worried because we had to go down a metal walkway and stair). We had to run for the cable car (before it closed!).

The hut we walked up to is int he middle of the picture….

Our big walk

Today (5th of July) I went up to the snow. It was the first time I ever saw snow fall. We went to the Ice Palace and Mum made a little snow man. On the gondala ride home I saw a marmot and a deer.

Today (6th of July) I stayed home all day and looked after Mum and Dad (who were both quite sick running fevers).

Money, money, money

Today (2nd July) we went for a bike ride on the Lucca wall and ate breakfast. We went to Florence for one night. It was fun as we had a big house (hotel room). We got very expensive icecreams (21 Euros for 3!)

Lucca town

Today (Tuesday 26th of June) I went on three trains. The first one was 2.5hrs, the second one 7mins, the third 1.5 hrs. It was really fun. We arrrived in Lucca to our new appartment. It has two floors and I have a bedroom on the top floor. There is a pizza place just near our front door where we had lunch. We went to a good restaurant for dinner – great pasta – and met a lovely English couple.

The church in our piazza….

Today (Wednesday 27th of June) I went to a good breaky place with Daddy. Then the two of us did some shopping together – I got a new pair of sunnies. After that we went to a park and I made two new friends and we played there for…….hours + hours = hours but I badly hurt my left hand so it didn’t turn out well.

Today (Thursday 28th of June) I went to a church and saw some amazing mosiacs. We saw Roman baths under the church and some old writing. Then we went up a bell tower. Then we had lunch and I also met a girl named Iluka at the park in Lucca! She was from Melbourne. I went to the Opera at night. It was magnificent – there was a boy and girl singing opera with a piano player.

Today (Friday 29th of June) I went to the Cinque Terre and did a tiring 1.5 hr walk between two towns. I also went to an amazing rock beach and had a swim. The older kids were jealous of how high I was jumping off into the water – but it wasn’t actually THAT high. We had icecreams – it was unfair as Mum and Dad had two each and I only had one.

Today (Saturday 30th of June) I went to the Modern Art gallery. In the afternoon I stayed home. I played Life and on my i-pod touch. It was nice to be at home but I wasnt feeling well.

Today (Sunday 1st July) I went to a bell tower that had trees on it. I also went on a bike ride with Daddy. It was tiring but fun. We rode on the wall around the town. We went up another tower before dinner.

We saw this being put up and this is what it looked like when it was finished:

We went to watch the Italy vs Spain soccer game…..Italy lost ;(

Leaving Lucca…….eating a gelati!

Mountains, mountains everywhere

Today (Thursday 21st June) we went to the train station to get a train to Bolzano. When we got there we got into a taxi and went to our hotel. We went out for dinner in town – we  had German food.

Today (Friday 22nd June) we went on a cable car (the longest single cable car trip in the world). When we got off we went on an old fashioned train. I got to go inthe front and watch the man drive. When we got off we went on a walk to a gorge. When we finished I raced Dad back – it was fun but I didnt win. I got scared when went we went down in the cable car!

Snow White and many dwarfs!

Today (Saturday 23rd June) we went to a castle. All I did there was run up and down stairs (we were at one of Messner’s museums and the idea is that it is a bit like climbing a mountain!). When we had lunch I saw a wedding going on.

Today (Sunday 24th June) I went to two museums. My favourite things were these funny white people and the table tennis net that was 2 metres high! We saw a very old body – “Otzi” – he is over 5000 years old. The next thing we did was drive out to see some bears. I was not feeling good afterwards (stinging nettles – ouch!).

Today (Monday 25th June) I went to Alps du Susui. We went on a cable car and then a chair lift. We went on a walk but I dint go the whole way. I touched an electric fence – it hurt. While I was walking I was playing with flowers and singing.

Hot, hot, hot

Today (16th June) we arrived at our next apartment. Mum and I were so tired from going up the stairs so when I leapt on my bed I broke my new sunnies! We had dinner with Monique and Aaron (from Perth).

THE Canal

A walk around on our first day in Venice…

We came across a Masquerade Ball as we walked home from dinner with Monique and Aaron

Today (Sunday 17th of June) we had a look at a lot of shops. We didnt buy anything but it was a lot of fun. I went to the Leonardo da Vinci exhibition. I got to crank some wheels. And guess what? He was the first person to make a bike. WOW! And I went into another cool museum. Inside the museum one of the things that was there were five naked dummies with their heads chopped off. The last place we  went to was the Peggy Guggenhiem museum. My favourite bit was going on the game bike – I rode around Venice!

Today (Monday 18th of June) I went to the Si Marco square on a water bus. I went to the Bascilica and saw the Treasures. The treasures included body parts of saints! The last place we went to was Palazzo Grassis. My favourite thing was the balloon dog that was actually made of metal. It was huge!

Our Venetian Apartment:

Today (Tuesday 19th of June) we went to Murano and saw glass being made. Afterwards we went to a glass shop. There were big ones, small ones, coloured ones. And out of all of them we only chose two (but we spent a LOT of money!!).

The Glass Museum & a glass sculpture in the piazza where we had lunch:

My new glass jewellery – including my first pair of dangly earrings!:

Today (Wednesday 20th of June) Mum and I made masks. It was cool. Afterwards we did some shopping – today is our last day here.

We will always have Paris!

Today (11th of June) we caught the train to London and then a train to Paris! We arrived at our hotel (an apartment!).

Today (12th of June) I went to the Musee D’Orsay – an art museum and saw some of Vincent Van Goghs art. He is my favourite artist. I also saw the Eiffel tower for the first time and my Dad pulled my tooth out.

Our local produce market….

Today (13th of June) I went to one of the most famous churches in the world – Notre Dame.

Today (14th of June) I went to the Eiffel Tower. I went to the very top. I felt….scared, excited, small, tired (from walking up all those steps). It looked huge, dangerous and gold.

The local “rats” at Sacre Coeur

We had dinner on a boat!

Today (15th of June) we went to the Musee de L’Orangerie. We saw Monet’s Water Lily paintings. One of them had a tree in it and the leaves were weeping down to the water. When you were up close the water lilies looked like a splodge but looked like a proper water lily when you were further away.

Then I went on an overnight train. I got to go on the top bunk……YES! It was fun but I couldn’t sleep well with all the noise 😦
