The Great Wall

We went to Beijing for a week from the 8th to 15th of September.

We went to the Forbidden City.

I was drawing the buildings. I got sick of people touching me and taking my photo all the time 😦

My favourite dragon was white…

My favourite part was the model of the theatre because it had trap doors and people that were tied to rope around their waist.

We went to the Beijing Zoo. I got to see the Panda’s – they were soooooo cute! The monkeys were funny. And I saw some kissing/fighting fish and lots more!

I went to the Summer Palace – I like it better than the Forbidden City. There were lots of steps!

There were lots of Buddha’s on one building – over 1000 of them!

The kite flying was cool. The kites were a LONG way away. Can you see how far away the kite is in the 2nd photo?

There were paintings everywhere. It must have taken them ages to do them all.

We went up to the Great Wall – it was my favourite trip.

At the Lama temple I spun a prayer wheel.

Those are bins!

People were burning lots of incense.

We went to a really yummy vegetarian buffet – my cousins would have loved it! I thought some tofu tasted like meat!

We went to where the Olympics were held 4 years ago. I like the birds nest and the pool had scales on it!

And I also went to an amazing acrobatics show……..I wish I could be the young girl who did lots of great tricks!

Off to China

Today (Friday 7th of Setember) we hopped on the train to Beijing! We passed through the Gobi desert

At the Chinese border they changed the bogies on the train because the train tracks are smaller! You couldn’t feel a thing!

When we woke up the next morning you couldnt see anything – the pollution was ghastly!

The air got better when there wasn’t any factories around….

Mmmmmmmmongolia!

Today we started our adventures around Mongolia (28th August to 8th September). (We arrived in Ulanbataar by train early am and flew to Moron early pm. Then a 3.5hr van trip to Lake Khovsgol)

It is strange living in a Ger – especially as it gets very cold at night but luckily we have a fire to keep us nice and toasty and we have three blankets as well!

We made a cairn and I wished that I liked food that I didn’t like and that people wont bully me at my new school.

Daddy and I made a great cubby house – it was huge – as you can see from the picture.

This little girl was really cute!

(After 2 days very bumpy travelling we arrived at the Great White Lake)

This is the view of the moon out of our ger!

We went on a walk around a volcano crater. When I had to lean into the crater for a photo I got scared. You could see our camp from the volcano.

Daddy and Mummy thought that the black things were dried lava – but yes I was right – they were actually cairns!

We went on a row boat and I went fishing. But I didn’t catch anything  – Daddy didn’t catch anything either.

The beautiful sunset over great white lake….

We went to hot springs – and it was divine! The water was nice and warm. Where the water came out of the ground it smelt like sulphur!

This was a buddhist temple in Karakorum. At the museum I enjoyed looking at the model of the old city.

Just before we got to the next camp we went on a camel – yay!

Daddy and I walked up sand dunes and found the steepest bits to run back down – weeeeeeeee!

In the forests we found lot of amazing creatures…furry cows, amazing birds, gasshoppers to catch, marmuts – they are like chipmonks and wolves.

The roads we travelled made me feel sick as they were winding and very very bumpy!

After 8 nights in gers we arrived back in Ulan Bataar! I had mojitos to drink (without alcohol!!)

Bye for now!
