Hot, hot, hot

Today (16th June) we arrived at our next apartment. Mum and I were so tired from going up the stairs so when I leapt on my bed I broke my new sunnies! We had dinner with Monique and Aaron (from Perth).

THE Canal

A walk around on our first day in Venice…

We came across a Masquerade Ball as we walked home from dinner with Monique and Aaron

Today (Sunday 17th of June) we had a look at a lot of shops. We didnt buy anything but it was a lot of fun. I went to the Leonardo da Vinci exhibition. I got to crank some wheels. And guess what? He was the first person to make a bike. WOW! And I went into another cool museum. Inside the museum one of the things that was there were five naked dummies with their heads chopped off. The last place we  went to was the Peggy Guggenhiem museum. My favourite bit was going on the game bike – I rode around Venice!

Today (Monday 18th of June) I went to the Si Marco square on a water bus. I went to the Bascilica and saw the Treasures. The treasures included body parts of saints! The last place we went to was Palazzo Grassis. My favourite thing was the balloon dog that was actually made of metal. It was huge!

Our Venetian Apartment:

Today (Tuesday 19th of June) we went to Murano and saw glass being made. Afterwards we went to a glass shop. There were big ones, small ones, coloured ones. And out of all of them we only chose two (but we spent a LOT of money!!).

The Glass Museum & a glass sculpture in the piazza where we had lunch:

My new glass jewellery – including my first pair of dangly earrings!:

Today (Wednesday 20th of June) Mum and I made masks. It was cool. Afterwards we did some shopping – today is our last day here.

We will always have Paris!

Today (11th of June) we caught the train to London and then a train to Paris! We arrived at our hotel (an apartment!).

Today (12th of June) I went to the Musee D’Orsay – an art museum and saw some of Vincent Van Goghs art. He is my favourite artist. I also saw the Eiffel tower for the first time and my Dad pulled my tooth out.

Our local produce market….

Today (13th of June) I went to one of the most famous churches in the world – Notre Dame.

Today (14th of June) I went to the Eiffel Tower. I went to the very top. I felt….scared, excited, small, tired (from walking up all those steps). It looked huge, dangerous and gold.

The local “rats” at Sacre Coeur

We had dinner on a boat!

Today (15th of June) we went to the Musee de L’Orangerie. We saw Monet’s Water Lily paintings. One of them had a tree in it and the leaves were weeping down to the water. When you were up close the water lilies looked like a splodge but looked like a proper water lily when you were further away.

Then I went on an overnight train. I got to go on the top bunk……YES! It was fun but I couldn’t sleep well with all the noise 😦

Kettering…..

Today (9th of June) we caught the train to see Rob and Sam and meet Thomas (who is 3). They have a three storey house + a basement and I slept on the top floor – next to Thomas’ room. All I could do was play with Thomas! It was raining. Every night I would have to calm Thomas down as he would get upset and I read him a story before he went to sleep.

Wet, wet, wet

Today (Friday 8th June) was wet and wild. We went to the Tate museum – it was very “interesting”.  I liked the Picasso and wanted the diamonds off the skull (Damien Hirst “For the Love of God”). We went to Singing in the Rain in the afternoon – it was more than fabulous! I loved the high pitched girl (Lina Lamont) and when we got wet (we were in the 3rd row).

Fly, fly away

Today (Thursday 7th June) I went to the Science Museum. I loved the flight simulator and learning about the orphan elephants and orangutangs. The Apollo mission movie was fun – I got wet (they spray you with water) and then cold (air blowing over you). I liked the sculptures and clothing at the V&A museum.

London calling

We went to the Tower of London and we saw lots of real crowns – including the one worn by the Queen.

The block they used to chop off people’s heads was also there – it was a bit scary!

Amelies adventure begins

Today we started our big trip. My Mum had business class (otherwise known as a membership card) so we got to go in the qantas lounge. We went on the plane for 5 hrs. Now we are in Singapore at another qantas lounge eating great chocolate brownies! God I’m tired its half past ten! Bye – see you tomorrow.
